Overview

At iHerb, a core business strength lies in its ability to ship to over 180 countries worldwide. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Transportation Management System (TMS) team, I led a strategic initiative to retire legacy carrier partnerships and onboard new shipping carriers in the East Asia region. The objective was to optimize contract efficiency, reduce shipping costs, and expand service coverage—ultimately driving greater revenue and customer satisfaction.

This project also extended to enhancing European logistics, including countries such as Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Portugal. The initiative offered competitive rates compared to incumbent EU carriers, mitigated rate hikes, and improved customer experience through better escalation protocols.

A key milestone included integrating fulfillment from a newly established warehouse, eliminating intermediary steps and reducing processing fees by 3%.

Project Planning & Execution: Scoped the initiative by estimating level of effort, creating a detailed execution roadmap, and breaking down tasks into manageable engineering tickets.

Technical Leadership: Led the end-to-end implementation of new carrier integrations, ensuring robust, scalable solutions that aligned with business goals.

Stakeholder Communication: Served as the primary technical liaison across logistics, product, and business teams, providing regular updates, managing expectations, and aligning deliverables.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partnered closely with warehouse operations, finance, and regional teams to ensure seamless rollout of new carriers and warehouse integrations.
